July 29, 2009

again...life just happens and blogs become an after thought. i found a few quiet moments to take time and type out a few thoughts and observations. since cutting my cast off, i've made strides in my recovery from the broken hand. frustrating as it is, allows me to have my own experience in what it's like to rehab a broken hand. in the then, it will allow me to understand patients when they come to me for rehab in the near future.

i watched the bmx worlds and they were insane to say the least! vet pro/elite masters was one by Tome Opincar, a nashville native and really good guy!!! congratulations goes out to him, Tim Dinger and ol' devil dog Scott Moreland for making that main. Next year the race is in south africa and that would be a crazy race to get to. not often you get to make a trip to africa for a bike race!!! the year after that, it will be in russia then 2012 england for the warm up of the summer olympics. i'd love to go next year, but i think i will definitely shoot for the 2011 race in russia, as i will be the young kid in the class at the ripe age of 40 and make a run at a cruiser title. hopefully by 2011 i'll be working and able to save money so we all can go, maybe eurorail through europe a bit.

since my break, i've had to focus on my cardiovascular workouts a lot! i've lost around 8 pounds and i'm pretty suprise that little weight has made a difference! i also have a high school reunion coming up, so you know i can't go there half-steppin'!!! lol... it's going to be odd...20 years just flew by and i'm interested to see if what most people have said about their 20 year reunions, in that the jocks are all fat, the hot chicks are now all worn out and the dorks and nerds look the best. i missed the 10 year reunion, but made the 15, but it was a pretty low turnout, so i'm expecting this thing to be huge. we had something like 450-500 people in our class.

well, thats all i have time for. hope all is well on your end.

i've went ahead and cut my cast off. the doc raps that thing like a christmas present...way too tight...fingers kept going numb, etc. so i couldn't take it and decided to take it off. i told myself to take it ez, don't get all crazy with it, so i go out to the track on monday and pumped around the track. it got a little sore, but nothing super crazy. the next day, i go ahead and jumped the third straight before they changed it up just to bit the dog that bit me...landed it and that's all i had to say about that. i packed up and headed home. i won't lie, i was hurting that afternoon...lol...i took some motrin and iced it up. today...hmmm...i think i'll just do the normal stepmaster at the gym, sweat my butt off and continue to drop the pounds. yesterday i came in at 151 lbs!

not only do i have the grands coming up and want to be in the best physical condition i can be in, but i also have my 20 year high school reunion coming up. i can't wait to see some of the people i hung out with, however, lets say i wasn't one of the "cool" kids either. i mean i had a lot of friends, but i was definitely in the "weirdo" classification of school clicks... part of me wants to the jocks to show up all fat and bloated. part of me wants to see the hot chicks all wornout and pushing max density too. then i step back and tell myself, "does that make you any better than them?" no it doesn't. so i will put on the smile, say hello to everyone and just take satisfaction that i took the high road. be proud of what i've done in the last 20 years and especially of my family!

carrying hate for stupid stuff from 20 + years past just weighs me down and i choose to do the best i can in GODS eyes....

lance armstrong misses the yellow jersey buy .01's of a second...seriously, the guy is not human! i think deep down inside, i do wish to ride road bikes. think about the impact that this guy has on cycling. i can't even tell you who won the tour last year, but now that lance is back in it, i go to versus and check it out everyday.

i did an interview yesterday at whas11 about the use of helmets. it was really cool seeing the inner workings of a tv news station. rachell platt is a very cool lady and said that she'd like to do a morning news feed from the bmx track when the grands gets near!!! very cool of her!

i have some friends in town on the way to the nashville national. man, how i wish i was going to that race!!! it's all good...there's a reason for the broken hand...i don't know what it is....lol...

how about that memorial service for MJ? i won't lie, i cried when Stevie Wonder did his part. his and Brook Sheilds seemed to be the only two heart felt parts. the rest was almost uncomfortable to watch, especially the end. i really hope those kids come out ok from all of this. i couldn't imagine growing up like that...it's like they are surrounded by tons of people, but look lonely...

hope all is well with you...

won't bitch and gripe about my work weekend...just know that i want to kick this lady in her toe really hard!!! 1,000 lbs. of bitchy attitude..enough said...

so let's talk about the venus and serena williams invitational...err i mean wimbledon. i love how one event can make you want to go out and buy tennis rackets! before i kick it, i would like to try and go to wimbledon during their tournament. the dudes seem to kill the ball with every stroke...my daughters seem to love it and they do have rackets, so i might take them to one of the local courts and see if they really really like it...

i just want them to find their passion as bmx is for me. there's a lot that a sport can do for a person. it helps them focus, set goals, face fear in reaching those goals. i want them to not be afraid of being physically active.

is it really july already? wow! before i know it, i'll be getting out the xmas stuff! i don't have a lot to say today, except that i wish my cast was off...hope that all is well on your end.

2 July, 2009

i'm at that point where you can see the funk rolling out of my cast now. since breaking my 1rst metacarpal, i've been in the gym doing cardio workouts and now it's caught up with me. i'm going to attempt to get a new one today, but i have a feeling they'll shoot my request down.

quiet night last night. i mean, like there nobody was at home next door. :)

so being it's now july, what was up with the 70 degree weather? i liked it!!! makes for great grillin' weather, chill tunes and cold one.

i just bought my 20 year high school reunion tickets. not sure how i feel about going. i wanna see some old friends, but to be honest, i want to see how all the popular people turned out....will it be, "the hot chick, now all fat and bloated?" "the jock is now a drunken idiot."....it's kind of like not being able to turn away and not look at a train wreck.

never did make it to the road bike races...oh well..lol...haven't seen it on any of the news stations either. the tour is getting ready to hit the road. hope it's not another roid infested spectacle. then again, i say let 'em roid it up! you could see roid rages in the pelaton, or watch a guys heart blow up while climbing a mountain, etc...just kidding there...really, i hope that Armstrong rides a good race and shows people whats up.

well..off to get the day going...

July 1, 2009

well, i did it!!! totally jinxed myself speaking about my neighbor. yesterday while painting my door, dude comes out and lights off a brick of firecrackers...not that firecrackers bother me or anything, its the fact that i know i'm going to be the one cleaning up the mess afterward.

now, let me back up for a second. this guy who is now living there just showed up two or three days ago and things next door have become very busy. prior to that, it's been very peaceful and quiet. so back to yesterday...

while eating our dinner, this guy lights off another round and this time it's between the houses. our houses are separated by maybe a foot and a half, not much.... i call the police and i'm told by the dispatcher that it's legal to light firecrackers up to 11pm. i say to the guy, "i have 2 children and you're telling me that there's nothing on the books to help me out?" so, me and the girls pack up the bat and balls and go over to the "path" and we hit some balls, let the girls play, then head back. well, there's a buzz next door. lots of "yo yo yo" and music and people running in and out, more cars than normal. so it's about 9:30pm and a car load of people pile out and its a full on party. then, i hear a bunch of i'm gonna kick your ass, yo yo yo, blah blah blah going on and all of the sudden, there's 15 people out front carrying on like a bunch of idiots. after about 5 minutes of that, they all finally leave....

so....what to do? do i call the landlords, who will no doubt just brush it off onto the police, who will then brush it off completely and here i am, the guy doing his part to make this part of new albany look good on the short end of the stick...again...

well...thats about it from here. didn't wake up from any jacked up dreams today, thank goodness. the weather is insanely awesome and i hope wherever you're at you are able to take advantage of it.

its another day, i'm alive and that will work for me!!!
