again...the time laps..lol..

I guess this blog will come in spurts, because of the inconsistent updates, but that's life isn't it..I mean, I've been so busy with trying to train for BMX, being a husband, a dad, a full-time employee, being on a couple of boards...sheesh, where do I even find the time to cut my grass?! lol...ok...

So the current situation is that I live in New Albany and the commute...well...I'll just leave it at that. BMX season was cut short due to a bad crash one week before the final NBL Grand National, and I've been just trying to stay in the strong, fit zone for the comeback.

All in all, things are ok here in this nape of the woods. Went out for a 44 mile road bike ride today and it was a lot of fun. I seriously need to find out how to pick up a good road bike, as I ride a cyclo-cross bike at the moment...it's not a bad thing..don't get me wrong, it's just that I think a road bike would allow me to train a little better...whatever,....at this point, I'm just going to stop rambling...

life as a regular guy...

so now that i'm graduated and employed by an awesome employer, it's been very difficult to keep the training regimen going. i'm able to hit the gym at least 3 days a week. i do sprints on tue and thurs. morning. i find myself grabbing the MTB more often than the BMX now... just weirdness...

had a great trail jam over the weekend at Franks. it's monday morning...time to do it all over again.

City of New Albany!!!

Dear City of New Albany,

Thank you for paving Spring St!!! I love how the new road feels!!! My favorite part is when I get down to Spring and State Streets and my lane all of the sudden disappears and I'm left with the decision to cut off the guy behind me, or get side-swiped by the guy next to me. You make my drive in the morning so much fun with your new paving methods!!! I'm so happy my tax dollars don't go to waste here.

August 15, 2009

kind of a wierd day today. first, i'm heading off to the track and get a call from the kiddo's dad i'm coaching and they cancelled. dang. had some issues at the bank and over draft protection and then called my wife to tell her about it and she gives me all types of crap over it. dang. so i'm at the track and there's a particular jump that just needs some love, so i get out my shovel and go to work on it.

well, there's a group of kids there and i politely ask them to not ride it while i work on it. i said i'd only need about 15-20 minutes and then it would be good as new. well, the mom didn't care for that and went off about how her taxes pay for this that and the other.

so i politely explained to her, that her taxes do this, that and the other up to 15 feet of the fence of the track, then it's solely the bmx organization that takes care of that and everything inside the fence. i told her that i was doing this out of the kindness of my heart and that nobody asked me, nor was paying me to fix this particular part of the track...lol...

so...here it is...9pm..i'm freaking tired. lol.... that's all i have for today. hope your week was a good one!

open letter to the right wing.

The presidential election of 2008 sent a message to the Republican Party. It pretty much said, "enough!" Now, I'm first to acknowledge that having a choice between A and B candidates is not much of a choice, but rather a picking of the best of the worst. OK, so the current administration campaigned on the slogan of "Change." I knew the right wingers would be crying like a little baby when they didn't win the presidential election. The left wingers would have been doing to the same I'm sure. What I'm really writing about is the debate of health care and the recent attempts of the right wing nut jobs going to town halls and acting like complete buffoons!!! I listen to 89.3 to get the left's perspective and then I turn to 105.1 to listen to the rights perspective. Even when Bush was in office, it seem the 89.3 was able to report their dislike for Bush's policies, but remained respectful in the reporting. When I turn to 105.1 and listen to their view of the health care debate, all I hear is a bunch of "blah blah blah...Nazi, Socialism, Obama-care..blah blah blah." Nothing but buzz-words to stir the pot, however, when listening for substance, a thoughtful rebuttal, something backed up with facts, I couldn't find an ounce.Look right wingers. You got your ass kicked in 2008. The people were/are fed up with the lies and bullshit. The democrats are just as guilty of spinning things too, but when the republican president got up and lied through his teeth about why we should go to war, looking for WMD's and then came up with goose eggs, you're damn right the people are pissed!!! 5,000 + dead service men are not worth what was really an abuse of powers, just to go hang a guy that tried to smoke your daddy!!! So the people want change, President Obama is presenting the people with change and all you right wing nut jobs can do is get on the radio and put fear into people. I'm sick of the lies, the spin, the "grade school" na na-na na na bullying and spouting off of the mouth you think needs to be done in order to derail change. You don't want government involved in health care??? To freakin' late...umm, Medicaid??? Does that ring a bell to any of you??? It's here already!!! But we don't want government in private business!!! Well, you don't seem to mind when it comes to our airline business!!! Had if not been for government regulation, airlines would be flying aircraft with bandaids and glue, just so to save a buck. If the right wing wants to return to the table and actually play a real hand, then they have to turn down the WWF mentality of getting on the air waves and acting like stark raving lunatics. Do me a favor and listen just for a few minutes to the kooks on 105.1 for at least 15 minutes. They rely on reporting half truths and buzz words to instill fear into the people who might not have the ability to see the bigger picture. They actually remind me of the Taliban zealots. I've spouted off enough. I'm just sick of the high school mentality of debate of the right wing. Grow up and come to the debate with facts, not screaming lunacy!!!

Aug. 11, 2009

well...i officially have 2 children in school. we watched the baby videos last night and i just can't understand how time just gets away from us. first it was the reunion and no looking back on the girls...just makes me realize that our alotted time on earth is very short. it's kind of a two edge sword or way of looking at life.

on one hand, a part of me says, party it up, it's a short time and you might as well enjoy it. who knows what's on the other side for us. another part of me is like, "you only have this much time, you better make use of it and make a positive impact on things." i tend to lean on the later thought. parties can be awesome at first, but afterwards, it's the same people, same beer, same music....the same.

so...whats up with the rain? i mean, yes we need rain for the crops, etc. but all at once??? the downpours are insane the past two weeks! oh well...life is good if rain is all i'm thinking about right now.

my dog has a foot fetish. this dude is always all up on my toes smelling them and my shoes...what's up with that?

it's almost 9 and i need to get running to the gym and do some running around and get ready for my upcoming school year. it's already kind of crazy with all the emails and rebuttles correcting those emails and on and on...i mean...aren't teachers suppose to be organized? at least that's what i was taught at U of L earning my bs, in teaching...

so...it's tues. we're suppose to get more rain. hopefully it will be a nice event and nothing crazy...but it is the ohio valley...lol...better be prepared!!!

August 9, 2009

wow!!! the 20 year high school reunion was great! i had reservations, as sure as many did about going, but i had a great time and my wife possibly had a better time than i! lol... as a whole, i couldn't be more proud to be part of the class of 1989 from jeff high. we have lawyers, judges, firefighters, business owners, nurses, and on and on of people who have gone on to their own success. not only as a class have we succeeded in life, but we were also a pretty damn good looking class too!!!

funny part of the night was the photographer getting all pissed off and totally bitched us out. i mean, was he paying us, or were we paying him??? lol...maybe that headband was a little too tight and cut the circulation off from the brain that caused to him to have a laps in judgment.

caught up with my main men Ron and Jason. yes Ron, we need to make more time to just chill with each other and keep up. got to speak with a lot of people and worst, there were people that i didn't get to even get a word with because there so many.

i definitely was feeling it in the morning. working part time at nortons the next day, 7am came way too soon, especially when not going to be at 2am....lol... preparing myself for the next chapter in my life has me excited and nervous and sad...the bmx gig has lasted for a long time, but i guess theres a time for me to really grow up and make that real money. the next year will be very challenging for me as i ween myself off the bmx racing even more than i have as of late. it's sunday...i'm off to catch up on my nappy nap again...hope all is well with you and yours.
